MISSION STATEMENT: HOW MY TRAVEL CONTESTS BLOG WORKS

One of my New Year’s resolutions this year was to win a trip.

I started off haphazardly scouring the Internet and entering the occasional contest. When I decided to take my quest to the next level, and rev up that mighty search engine on a regular basis, I thought it would be fun to share the results with friends, family and whoever else happened to mosey by my blog.

I plan on entering as many contests as possible, provided I actually want to win the trip. That means I will probably not enter contests involving cruise ships, unless they're on the small side and go to places like Antartica, the Galapagos, the Sea of Cortez, Alaska. (For the geography-inclined, I deliberately listed those from south to north.) I am well aware that sharing this experience will decrease my chances of winning. But it will sure add to the fun. I would be thrilled if someone won a trip because they saw the contest on my site.

Meanwhile, I plan to enter every contest I post here, or, if it's a cluster of contests, one from the cluster, the one I want most to win. Now and then I may highlight a contest for entertainment value rather than contest merit. I will probably not be entering those. Of course, I am posting these contests as a service as well as a lark, and cannot vouch for any of the sponsors. I will do my best to avoid duds, scams and otherwise inappropriate enticements.
