I went for the five nights in Martinique. Okay, that's one less night than the trip to St. Maarten, but I've been hankering for a visit to a French speaking country ever since I went to the Cezanne in Provence show here at The National Gallery of Art. The Bahamas would be lovely, too. I think their ad campaign, as well as their website, www.bahamas.com, is eye-candy gorgeous, the silly business with the New York City subway mischief aside. I might have tried for the D.R. trip, since my son goes to a bilingual school and, between his father and me, we try to get in at least one trip to a Spanish speaking country a year, but the clothing optional component at Eden Bay is a dealbreaker there. While the Rich Rubin excursion looks lovely, the pull for French won out over Spanish.
